SELF-TAPES BUILT AROUND PERFORMANCE

At Studio 418, self-tape sessions are designed to help actors focus on the work, not the logistics.

Each session includes time to work the scene before filming, with reader support and direction where needed. The process is collaborative and tailored to the actor, so whether you want to explore the material or go straight into filming, the session adapts to what helps you do your best work.

Final tapes are usually delivered the same day, often within an hour or two.

FAQ: SELF-TAPE SESSIONS

How does payment work for drop-in self-tape sessions?

You pay via our website to secure your first hour.

If your session runs over, you can pay the remaining balance at the studio by contactless or BACS.

How is the extra time charged if my self-tape session runs over an hour?

You pay £35 upfront via our website to book your first hour.

If you go over:
It’s £20 for each extra hour
Or £10 for every extra half hour

So if your session runs for 70 or 80 minutes, the total would be £45.

Once you pass the 60-minute mark, the extra time is charged, so it's always best to make the most of it

You can pay any extra time at the studio by contactless or BACS.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

For studio bookings under 1 hour, the fee becomes non-refundable within 24 hours of your session. For bookings longer than 1 hour, a 50% non-refundable fee applies if canceled within 24 hours. This policy helps us manage the high demand for studio time and ensures every client has the best possible experience. If you need to make adjustments to your booking, please reach out as soon as possible—we’ll always do our best to accommodate you!

What counts as a full session for a self-tape?

A full session begins the moment you step into the studio and ends once we've selected your tape or tapes together. While it's a collaborative process, once you've chosen your best take, the session can wrap up. The editing is so quick, your self-tape will probably beat you home—unless you’re sprinting!

What if I’m running late?

We understand sometimes lateness can be unavoidable. However, as we run on time slots, it’s important to be punctual. Please let us know in advance if you’re running behind schedule, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

What if I’m unsure on my lines?

We would advise all actors to come as prepared as possible. The last thing we both would want is for you to feel you haven't gotten the best out of your session.

Can I bring an acting partner to my sessions?

If you have an acting partner you like working with they are more than welcome to come along… After all we are aiming to get the best out of you and your performance!
